What is tapping?

FasterEFT is also known as ‘tapping’ because it is a form of psychological acupressure, where gentle tapping with the fingers takes place on the intricate network of traditional Chinese acupuncture points.   These are located along meridians, which are lines of energy in our body.

How does it help fix a problem?

What is a problem?

The underlying belief system with FasterEFT is that you are very successful at generating your problems.  If you have a bad experience in the past, lets say, you are bitten by a dog.  It’s a stressful experience.  It may result that if you don’t find a positive or healing perspective in your mind in the aftermath of such an event, you will create a fear of dogs.

Fast forward to when you are an adult.  You see a dog.  What happens?  Your fear kicks in.  You will also have physical reaction to the emotion that you are having (perhaps you feel a clenching in your chest or your heart rate increases).

That is your mind and your physiology, very successfully keeping you safe.  It’s providing an effective warning system in your body with the intention of keep you safe and avoiding a traumatic experience.  The interesting thing is, that you don’t even have to have a dog in the vicinity to feel those feelings.  All you have to do is think about the dog and you can produce all the same fears and emotional and physical feelings.  When you think about the dog, you will have your own way of representing that memory internally, through the pictures you see, the sounds you hear, the thoughts you have about it, and perhaps what you taste or smell. It can seem very real, even though it’s not even happening.  That’s because you are very successfully generating it internally.

You can apply this same process to any stressful or unpleasant experience in your life.  Perhaps your Dad got very angry with you as a little girl for no obvious reason, and whenever you think about the incident(s) you can still get emotional about it so fast, even though, it happened decades ago!  If you interact with your Dad now, that emotional wariness still remains, if he uses that certain tone of voice, or body language, or starts on with whatever it is he does.   Once again you only need to imagine a scenario in your mind and all of the emotions and physical reactions will kick in.

You likely established a set of beliefs around this back then, perhaps, ‘I can’t trust men’, ‘men are scary’, ‘I’m naughty and I deserve to be treated badly’.  And potentially these are playing out in your current relationships (or more likely in your inability to create one).

As you can see, your mind and body are creating ways to keep you safe from perceived threat.  You are very successfully generating your problem.  And this applies whether it’s your finances, your health, your livelihood, your relationships and self image.

How does tapping help?

The physical and emotional responses you have when you think about these memories or re-affirm these limiting beliefs (thoughts) in your  mind, are physically present in your body and specifically, in your organs.  This is the underpinning belief in Chinese medicine, in fact each organ has an emotion associated with it.  We hear references to it all the time in common language (‘gut feeling’, ”pissed off’, ‘livid’, ‘heartache’)…, and the act of tapping through the acupressure points whilst recalling and focussing on particular memories and beliefs has the effect of relieving the response inside the body, and collapsing memory and stress, and eliminating the negative emotional responses you have, thereby creating emotional freedom from the problem.

Then, it becomes available to ‘tap in’ the positive and more powerful beliefs and memories thereby freeing you to create what you really want in your chosen focus area.
